ONNEC APAC FOOTPRINT CONTINUES TO GROW TO SUPPORT FUTURE DATA CENTRE EXPANSION
The Asia-Pacific region continues to strengthen its position as one of the fastest-growing data centre markets in the world. Increasing demand driven by cloud adoption, AI, digital services and global connectivity, has made APAC a focal point for digital infrastructure investment and innovation.
According to Cushman & Wakefield, the region is on track to overtake the United States as the world’s largest colocation market by the end of the decade, with capacity projected to reach almost 24 GW by 2030. Markets such as Malaysia are expected to surge in global ranking, overtaking Singapore in colocation revenue around 2029, while Thailand is emerging as a new hub attracting significant investment thanks to favourable policies, strong connectivity, and rising demand for digital services, as highlighted by JLL. Together, these dynamics are creating unprecedented opportunity for cloud providers, hyperscalers, and enterprises across the region.
Established, experienced and APAC ready
By actively supporting customers across APAC, Onnec has already delivered complex AI infrastructure projects and built strong, trusted partnerships. Our established and expanding regional footprint allows us to combine global delivery standards with highly trained local expertise, ensuring we remain close to our customers and responsive to their evolving needs.
Over the past year, we have experienced rapid growth in both customer demand and project activity. We successfully delivered copper cabling and fibre optic installations across Sydney, Melbourne, and Johor, Malaysia, alongside a broad range of services within our Support Services portfolio.
These services included connectivity break-fix, IMACD, DCIM, rack-and-stack and patch management of client equipment, relocation and data centre migration, structured cabling and patching support, asset management and recycling, each delivered with strong technical governance and quality management.
Across these sites, we also installed and tested network infrastructure to support liquid-cooled GPU racks and commissioned fully operational infrastructure systems within agreed timelines and budgets. Comprehensive technical documentation was produced to ensure effective handover and ongoing support for on-site teams.

Strengthening Regional Leadership
To further enhance our regional operations, we appointed Sarel Myburgh as Senior Director APAC, to lead our strategy and execution across the region. Sarel will be supported by our Steve Mitchell, our Country Operations Managers in Australia and Gregg Filby in Singapore This leadership team brings decades of combined data centre project experience, backed by Onnec’s global FTE operations team of 200+ and 30 active regional partners with 2,000+ fully trained engineers, all compliant with our stringent onboarding and health and safety processes.
In addition to resource investment, in 2025 we established two new business entities in Malaysia and Thailand, complementing our existing operations in Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong and Japan. These entities enable efficient local trading and regulatory compliance while extending our reach into two strategically important and fast-emerging markets.
Philippe Huinck, CEO of Onnec, commented:
“This continued expansion reflects both the opportunity we see in the APAC market and our responsibility to support our customers as they grow. By establishing entities in Malaysia and Thailand and strengthening our regional leadership, we are reinforcing our commitment to being a long-term partner in the region, combining local delivery with global standards, and ensuring our customers can grow with confidence wherever they need us”.
Together, our investments position Onnec to support both regional and global customers as they continue to invest in digital infrastructure across Southeast Asia and Oceania. By growing our physical presence, investing in leadership, and building strong local teams, Onnec is experienced, well established and APAC ready for the continued evolution of the regions data centre and digital infrastructure landscape.
