international women’s day: Celebrating Women in Data Centres
At Onnec, we’re proud to support diversity and celebrate the incredible women shaping the future of the data centre and technology industry. This International Women’s Day, we’re shining a spotlight on three inspiring women whose expertise, dedication, and leadership make a real difference every day.
Johsual – Smart Solutions Junior
With over a year and a half of experience in the cabling and infrastructure sector, Johsual works within Onnec’s Smart Solutions team, helping clients transform their physical infrastructure into accurate digital records through DCIM systems. Her role involves reconciling operational data with physical infrastructure, conducting site visits, and performing infrastructure health checks to ensure data centres operate efficiently.
“I’ve found this industry both challenging and rewarding,” Johsual says. “On International Women’s Day, it’s inspiring to see more women entering the data centre and technology sector. Our growing presence brings diverse perspectives, drives innovation, and shapes the future of the cabling industry.”

Dhara – Project Planner
With more than 20 years of experience, Dhara brings her expertise to the planning and delivery of complex data cabling and infrastructure projects. As a Project Planner at Onnec, she manages project programmes, collaborates with engineers and site teams, and produces critical path and progress reports that ensure projects stay on track.
“Seeing more women making an impact across data centres, from planning and design to on-site delivery, is incredibly inspiring,” Dhara reflects. “Diverse perspectives drive innovation, collaboration, and successful project delivery, and that’s something worth celebrating this International Women’s Day.”

Lorraine – Health & Safety Specialist
Lorraine has over two decades of experience at Onnec, with the past eight years focused on Health & Safety (EHS) on-site. Transitioning from a financial administrator to EHS required continuous learning and up-skilling, especially in the fast-paced data centre environment. She’s passionate about delivering practical, collaborative training that empowers teams to work safely and efficiently.
“I love the change of working environment and the daily challenges that come with it,” Lorraine shares. “I was guided by a mentor who encouraged me to keep learning from everyone around me. My advice to women considering a career in data centres? Have no fear—the industry is becoming more inclusive, and opportunities are out there.”

These women exemplify how passion, expertise, and collaboration are driving innovation across Onnec and the wider data centre sector. Yet, despite the progress being made, women still represent, on average, only 8% of data centre teams. At Onnec, we are dedicated to closing this gender gap and creating a more inclusive industry.
Our Women at Onnec Employee Resource Group (ERG) plays a vital role in supporting and celebrating female talent across the business. We’ve also enhanced our maternity policy to ensure women feel supported at every stage of their careers, and we continue to monitor and improve our gender pay gap reporting to drive meaningful change.
On International Women’s Day, we celebrate Johsual, Dhara, Lorraine, and all the women at Onnec whose contributions inspire innovation, collaboration, and a stronger, more diverse future for the data centre industry. Together, we’re working to ensure that more women have the opportunity to thrive and lead in technology.
